Delete your account
There are two ways to delete your Takebase account and everything in it. In the app it takes a minute and happens straight away. If you cannot get into the app, email us and a person will do it for you.
In the app
This is the fastest route, and nothing waits on us:
- Open Takebase and sign in.
- Open Settings from the icon at the top of your library.
- Scroll to Delete account.
- Read the warning, choose Delete everything, then type DELETE when you are asked to.
The deletion runs immediately. There is no waiting period and no queue.
By email, if you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to the app or to the account, write to hello@teemusk.com from the email address on the account and say that you want it deleted. You do not need to give a reason. We will confirm the address is yours and delete the account within 30 days, and in practice within a day or two.
What is deleted
All of it. This is not a matter of removing you from things and leaving your recordings behind:
| What | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your account and profile | Deleted, along with your sign-in record, your display name and your profile picture. You cannot sign back in afterwards. |
| Albums you own | Deleted in full, with every song, take, comment, cover image and share link in them. Everybody you shared those albums with loses them too, which is the part worth being sure about. |
| Takes you added to other people's albums | Removed. Those albums carry on without them, and their owner gets the storage back. |
| Comments you wrote anywhere | Deleted, including comments on other people's takes. |
| Your membership of other people's albums | Removed. They are not told; you simply stop appearing. |
| Invitations waiting for your address | Deleted. |
None of this can be undone, and no copy is kept anywhere that you or we can reach. We cannot restore an account after it has been deleted.
What is kept, and for how long
- Metadata backups - up to 7 days, then they expire on their own. They are encrypted, they are not reachable from the app, and they are never used to bring an account back.
- Crash reports - for as long as Firebase Crashlytics retains them, currently 90 days. They carry no name, no email address and no audio.
- Records we are required by law to keep, such as accounting records of a payment. We never hold your card details: Apple and Google handle payment and keep their own records.
Cancel your subscription separately
If you pay for Takebase Pro, deleting your account does not cancel the subscription. The store holds it, not us, so it keeps renewing until you cancel it there:
- Android - Google Play app, then your profile icon, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions.
- iPhone - Settings, your name at the top, Subscriptions.
Cancel first, then delete, and you will not be charged again.
One thing that can stop a deletion
If an upload is still running, the deletion refuses rather than abandoning a half-uploaded recording. Wait for the upload to finish and try again.
Anything else
You can also ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, before you delete anything. Write to hello@teemusk.com. The Privacy Policy sets out what we hold and why.
